Waves

Hey readers, it’s been a minute since I’ve last written/shared anything with you all, so much has transpired; the whole Pandemic, so many deaths, the Unwarranted, Unnecessary Killings of black people, the Protests, “2020 has been kicking as* and taking names.” But it’s Not Over Yet. In the midst of it’s raft it has allowed people to start businesses, parents and children are spending more time with one another, spouses are reconnecting, individuals are getting much needed rest (mentally & physically) and it has alluded us much time to be still.

Stillness isn’t embraced by everyone. Some people have the need and or want to move. Stillness can bring about idle thoughts which in turn can cause turmoil while movement can be used as a distraction therefore preventing chaos. As an over thinker, I know how far my thoughts have reached just off of a simple phrase or word that I may have read too much into; so, I can just about imagine having too much idle “time on your hands.” One thing I know for certain is that we have to control our thoughts. Don’t allow your mind to be a holding cell for festering negativity.

How did you use this time of stillness? Was it helpful? Did it hinder you or maybe it was a bit of both?

We recently took a vacay to Myrtle Beach. The beach was everything, beautiful, peaceful, and refreshing; though those waves were potent.

As the waves reached the shore they either scooped you up and carried you away, allowing you to float. Or, they crashed right into and knocked you down, sort like how this year has been going depending on your perspective. But you have the power to change the narrative.

I remember having a conversation with a young lady and she asked “if the things we did or did not do would derail the plans God has for us.” I said God's plans were going to come to pass regardless. But depending on our decisions, we could cause detours, delays, and have to reroute. We have three (3) months left in this year, there’s still time to finish it strong.

“When you renew your mind to the fact that your thoughts matter, you will begin to detox your brain, and switch over from fear, worry and anger to power, love and a sound mind. Begin today to be intentional about paying attention to every single thought that comes into your mind. Keep the good, take the bad captive, and keep your mind fixed on God. Your life and faith will go to a new level!” ~ Copeland

Be the greatest you,
J. Renee

Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Psalm 33:11
The plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.
