Struggling In Silence

If I’m not mistaken, I believe everyone has struggled in silence at some point their life. Or, maybe even experiencing it currently; either way, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and a Brand New Day Tomorrow. Just a quick insight, my experience was when I was 23 years old. I was depressed and lost 20 pounds in the matter of a month and the only person who noticed and called me out was my mom. The thing is we all have struggles in life. It’s a balance of the scales. You have to know what bad is in order to know and appreciate the good. While some may struggle outwardly with drugs, alcohol, promiscuity, obesity or anorexia others have internal struggles. Some of the internal struggles may consist of mental illness, insecurity, stress, and the lists goes on. In all of these struggles that we face on the daily, the one commonality of them all Is that You’re Not The Only One Going Through This Struggle. It’s always someone who you can relate to, or who’s experienced the same thing(s). We as human beings seem to believe we’re in this alone. It takes time before we reach out for help, if we ever decide to do so. It wasn’t until I was over 25 that I felt comfortable and confident in telling someone what was going in with me if I was in a “bad space” or having and “off day.”

Until this day, I know fully grown women who have struggles, some that they identify, and still will not receive help for because of the era in which they grew up. “You don’t tell people about what’s going in your home” and therapy is taboo. But I’m telling you to TELL, TELL, TELL. Rather it be a Best Friend, A Stranger who you’ll never see again, a Therapist, your Bishop, or confessing to a Priest; let it out. Get the help and stop suffering. Transparency is so beneficial.

Be the greatest you,
